2010 - Supporting The Economy
Plato Ireland is a confidential business support forum for owner managers of SMEs. Through a unique partnership with large "parent" companies and enterprise development agencies, Plato provides SMEs with facilitated group learning, specialist expertise and advice, networking opportunities, business development training, and cross border activities.
In the current challenging environment, Plato is there to support SMEs through its network of voluntary group leaders and parent companies, with the direct assistance of City and County Enterprise Boards and the support of IBEC and Chambers Ireland.

The extension of the SBAI initiative (a joint initiative of Bord Gais and Plato) was recently launched in the South East by Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Innovation Batt O'Keeffe TD.
The initiative, which initially started in Cork City & County in October 2009, is now available to SMEs in counties Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford and South Tipperary.
Some 20 new advisors have been trained to support the network across these counties. It is envisaged that the initiative will continue to expand into other regions over the coming months.
To date, over 100 companies have been advised through the initiative. A panel of 55 voluntary advisors are supporting the SBAI in its work.

| Major Expansion of Plato Network in Midlands/South |
Plato, in association with South Tipperary County Council and Tipperary South County Enterprise Board will launch new Plato networks in the South Tipperary region later this year.
The development of this programme is a welcome addition to the Plato support networks already established in the broader mid and south west regions.
An information campaign will commence over the coming weeks, with a view to launching the programme in October.
It is anticipated that one network will be based in the Cashel region, whilst others will be based in Tipperary and/or Clonmel/Cahir.
